Central Ojibwe is one of several distinct varieties of Anishinaabemowin, the language of the Anishinaabe (Ojibwe) people. Spoken across parts of Ontario and neighboring regions of the Great Lakes, it is part of a larger family of Ojibwe varieties that share a common heritage while maintaining their own unique characteristics.
Created by the Manitoba First Nations Education Resource Centre in 2012, this course features the variety of Ojibwe spoken in Ontario. By learning Central Ojibwe, students help celebrate and support a language that continues to connect Anishinaabe communities with their history, traditions, and identity.
